Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki

Description

This was a project for my illustrationA class in CSUF. We were to use mixed media to create a "fanart" to an admirable artist and we were able to pick whoever we wanted. This is a huge oil painting I did with beach plywood that didn't weigh a lot and had a smooth surface. I also applied origami paper to the background because I was hoping to create an interesting texture from the patterned paper. Kind of mosaic (sorta). Oh, and Miyazaki san was painted with watercolor (my first time using watercolor-it was an interesting experience).

I chose Hayao Miyazaki as the artist that I admire because he really truly inspires me to be a great artist. His films are very imaginative and unique and I hope to have great unique films like he has (in my own way and style of course). Since Pixar has many of those same qualities that I admire I hope to work there someday.

I honestly do not consider this painting to be finished. There was a lot more I wanted to do with it but at the moment I have a lot on my plate and hopefully I will get back to it again at a later date.

All in all , i really enjoyed this project. I also enjoyed the fact that all I did that Christmas was listen to Christmas music, Ghibli movies, and Mushishi ^_^ Cheers!
